Yum Jung Ah and Park Eun Bin Begin Filming Family Drama Nam Eun Jung

The Korean film Nam Eun Jung has started production with a five-member principal cast led by Yum Jung Ah and Park Eun Bin. Filming began on September 3, the same day the project confirmed that Wi Ha Joon, Lee Ki Taek and Lee Min Ji would join its two leads.
The story centers on Kang Hyun Sook, played by Yum Jung Ah, and her youngest daughter Nam Eun Jung, played by Park Eun Bin. The two have never managed to become close, and the film follows them as they confront years of accumulated emotion, conflict and misunderstanding.
Rather than presenting the family divide as a single argument, the premise traces a relationship shaped over an entire lifetime. Hyun Sook and Eun Jung enter the story with affection worn down by repeated clashes, giving the film an emotional problem that must be examined from both a parent’s and a child’s perspective.
A mother and daughter at an impasse
Yum Jung Ah’s Hyun Sook has raised three children while enduring a difficult life. She has faced numerous turns and setbacks, yet she retains a fundamental honesty. That quality gives the mother a clear moral center even as her relationship with her youngest daughter remains unresolved.
Park Eun Bin’s Eun Jung begins from the opposite emotional position. Years of constant conflict have exhausted the affection she once felt toward her mother. Her character is not described as merely angry in the moment; she is someone who believes the relationship has depleted what she had left to give.
The casting brings two experienced performers into roles that depend on tension as much as warmth. The central drama will come from how Hyun Sook’s endurance and directness meet Eun Jung’s emotional fatigue, and whether their opposing memories of the same family life can leave space for understanding.
The family around them
Lee Ki Taek plays Nam Eun Chul, the eldest of the three siblings. Eun Chul is a pastor and serves as the dependable pillar of the children. His steadiness positions him as a family member accustomed to carrying responsibility, even when the dispute between his mother and youngest sister cannot be easily solved.
Lee Min Ji takes the role of Nam Eun Mi, the second child. Eun Mi maintains a balance between Hyun Sook and Eun Jung while the two continue to clash. Her place in the middle makes her more than a background sibling: she is the person navigating two family members whose relationship has hardened over time.
Wi Ha Joon appears as Park Sun Woo, Eun Jung’s boyfriend. Sun Woo consistently stays beside her and offers affectionate support. Because he is close to Eun Jung but outside the immediate mother-daughter history, he can provide a different form of companionship from the roles occupied by her brother and sister.
A feature debut behind the camera
Kim Dong Hoon will direct Nam Eun Jung, marking his feature-film directorial debut. The project therefore pairs a first-time feature director with a cast built around performers handling sharply defined family roles. No release date was included with the filming announcement.
The confirmed ensemble creates a clear emotional map. Hyun Sook is the resilient mother, Eun Jung the estranged youngest daughter, Eun Chul the reliable eldest child, Eun Mi the balancing middle sibling and Sun Woo the supportive partner. Each character approaches Eun Jung’s pain and the wider family fracture from a different position.
With cameras now rolling, the film moves from casting and development into the stage where those relationships will take shape on screen. Nam Eun Jung is built around a familiar family question with difficult answers: whether people separated by years of hurt can revisit their shared past honestly enough to change their future.
