SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi Diagnosed With Complete ACL Tear During Military Service

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi has been diagnosed with a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee after being injured during military performance-team practice. The singer shared the news directly with fans on September 12, explaining that he will undergo surgery and concentrate on treatment and rehabilitation.
The injury occurred while Hoshi was practicing with the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the Ground Forces performance team. He received a medical examination after hurting his knee and learned that the ligament was completely torn, making his recovery the immediate priority.
As a result, Hoshi will no longer take part in previously scheduled Taekwondo Demonstration Team events or the Army Ground Forces Festival. The change removes him from appearances he had been preparing for during his service and brings his performance schedule to a pause while he receives care.
Hoshi shares disappointment with fans
In his message, Hoshi acknowledged that the announcement could surprise CARATs and said he was delivering it carefully. He expressed disappointment because he had worked hard for the upcoming performances and had been genuinely looking forward to participating in them.
He also apologized to fans who had anticipated seeing him at the events. The statement balanced that regret with reassurance, emphasizing that he intends to follow the proper treatment plan and give his full attention to recovery so that he can return in good health.
Although he cannot join the scheduled activities, Hoshi asked supporters to continue cheering for the Taekwondo Demonstration Team. He also highlighted the Ground Forces performance team, which includes fellow SEVENTEEN member Woozi, referring to him by his given name, Jihoon.
The request kept the focus on the colleagues who will continue with the events. It also reflected Hoshi’s connection to the programs he had prepared for, even though the injury means he must now support them from outside the performance lineup.
Surgery and rehabilitation take priority
A complete ACL tear is a significant knee injury, and Hoshi said surgery will be followed by a period centered on recovery. He did not provide a detailed timetable for returning to physical activity, leaving the pace of rehabilitation to his treatment process.
For a performer known for demanding choreography, careful rehabilitation will be important before any future return to strenuous movement. The immediate announcement does not address later entertainment schedules, and its scope remains focused on the military events from which he has withdrawn.
Hoshi asked fans not to worry excessively and closed his message with his familiar tiger-themed expression of affection. His tone remained optimistic despite his disappointment, framing the next stage as a commitment to receiving appropriate care rather than attempting to continue through the injury.
Military service continues amid recovery
Hoshi began his military service in September 2025 and has served as a member of the Army Taekwondo Demonstration Team. His current discharge date is scheduled for March 15, 2027. The injury occurred during that service period rather than during a SEVENTEEN concert or promotional schedule.
The diagnosis changes how he will participate in near-term military activities, but no revision to his discharge date was announced. His statement concentrated on the events he will miss, the teammates who will continue performing and the medical steps ahead.
The update gives fans a clear explanation for his absence from the forthcoming demonstrations and festival. It also sets a straightforward priority for the months ahead: surgery, structured rehabilitation and a return only after his knee has recovered sufficiently.
Hoshi’s announcement ended with confidence that proper treatment will help him come back healthy. Until further updates are provided, his public schedule will remain secondary to recovery, while the Army performance teams continue their planned activities without him.
