BLACKPINK’s Rosé Releases Garage-Punk Single ‘New Trick’ With iPhone 18 Pro Music Video

BLACKPINK’s Rosé has released a new solo single, “New Trick,” pairing a garage-punk-inspired sound with a music video filmed entirely on the iPhone 18 Pro. The Friday release marks her latest move beyond her 2024 debut album rosie and introduces a brisker, band-driven visual identity for the next phase of her solo work.

The song addresses resilience, relationships, and the process of moving forward after setbacks. Its energetic arrangement gives those ideas a forceful presentation, turning recovery into motion rather than treating it as a quiet reflection. The result expands Rosé’s solo palette while keeping her distinctive vocal presence at the center.

Familiar collaborators support a sharper sound

Amy Allen and Andrew Wells produced “New Trick,” continuing creative relationships formed during Rosé’s recent solo work. Allen previously co-wrote and produced “APT.” with Bruno Mars, while Wells worked with Rosé on “Stay a Little Longer.” Their return connects the new single to the team behind key moments in her established catalog, even as the garage-punk influence pushes the music in a more abrasive direction.

The track’s production uses that continuity as a foundation rather than a restriction. “New Trick” does not simply reproduce the pop structure of “APT.” or the mood of “Stay a Little Longer.” Instead, the song places Rosé within a lively rock framework, emphasizing forward momentum and the tension between disappointment and renewed confidence.

That approach also fits the release’s position in her career. Rosé has described ongoing work on new material and a desire to shape music that reflects her development as both a person and an artist. “New Trick” functions as an early view of that evolution, offering a defined sound and visual concept without yet presenting a full new album campaign.

A music video built around mobile cinematography

The video forms part of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign and was captured entirely with the newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro. Director Dave Meyers led the project, bringing experience from videos for artists including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Ariana Grande.

Rather than making the device itself the subject, the video uses colorful outdoor settings, performance sequences, friends, and a full band to match the song’s youthful rock energy. Rosé moves through bright scenes that emphasize speed and spontaneity, while the band setup gives the track a physical performance space. The visual language supports the single’s garage-punk edge without abandoning the polished scale of a major pop release.

The collaboration places Rosé in a campaign that has previously featured Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, and The Weeknd. Her participation combines a global technology launch with her own musical transition, giving “New Trick” both a standalone identity and a prominent promotional platform.

Following the global reach of ‘rosie’

Rosé’s first solo studio album, rosie, arrived in December 2024 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Its Bruno Mars collaboration “APT.” also reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, establishing a high commercial benchmark for the music that follows.

“New Trick” enters that context without trying to recreate the previous era exactly. Its rock-oriented production, full-band imagery, and mobile-shot video present a different route forward. The single’s themes of resilience and continuing after disappointment also make the change feel connected to its lyrics rather than designed only as a visual makeover.

More music is already being developed, although a larger release schedule has not been detailed. For now, “New Trick” works as a compact statement of direction: familiar collaborators, a tougher guitar-driven attitude, and a video that turns new camera technology into a vehicle for performance. Together, those elements give Rosé’s next solo chapter a clear opening image while leaving room for the material still to come.
