ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama To You, Dream opened this week with a familiar romantic-comedy question: what happens when the person who once gave shape to your dream comes back after life has pulled you in a very different direction?

The series, led by Hwang In Youp and Hyeri, premiered on July 13 as the follow-up to Doctor Sumboy. It centers on Woo Soo Bin, a gifted film director who returns to Korea after making a splash overseas, and Joo Yi Jae, a practical entertainment reporter who has pushed her own ambitions aside. Their reunion is not presented as a simple second chance. From the beginning, the drama frames it as a collision between memory, regret, and the everyday compromises that can harden around adulthood.

Hwang plays Soo Bin as a man who has already achieved the kind of success many young artists only imagine. According to the drama’s setup, he spent his teenage years inside a world designed by his parents, broke away during his twenties, and eventually debuted with a first feature that drew attention at international film festivals. Yet his return is not only professional. He comes back because of Yi Jae, the first love who once shared his dream of making films and left a promise unfinished.

Hyeri’s Yi Jae gives the story its sharper emotional angle. She is described as someone who once felt fearless because she had a dream, only to hit the limits of reality in her twenties. Baek Sung Chul plays Shim Yoo Geon, a minor actor who has continued chasing performance despite pressure to give up and take over his family’s sashimi restaurant. Lee Yeol Eum plays Oh Ha Na, a top actress and former Miss Korea whose public success has not necessarily given her a private dream of her own. Lee Sang Yeob appears as film company head Seo In Wook, a close, brother-like figure to Soo Bin, while Lee Ji Min plays romance-program writer Choi Sa Rang, whose search for destined love draws her toward In Wook.

Why the premiere is drawing attention

Part of the interest around To You, Dream comes from its clean positioning in the current drama lineup. The series is scheduled for 12 episodes and airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. KST on ENA, with streaming available through Genie TV and TVING. That gives it a clear weekday slot and an accessible path for viewers who follow Korean dramas through domestic OTT services rather than live broadcast alone.

There is also a casting reason the premiere landed on entertainment-watch lists. Hwang In Youp has built a strong international following through youth and romance-centered roles, while Hyeri remains closely associated with warm, expressive characters who can carry both comedy and melancholy. Pairing them as people who once imagined the same artistic future gives the drama an easy emotional premise, but the more important test will be whether the writing lets Yi Jae’s frustration stand on equal footing with Soo Bin’s longing.

For now, To You, Dream looks like a romantic comedy with a sentimental surface and a practical question underneath. It is not only asking whether two first loves can find each other again. It is asking what happens when one person kept running toward the dream and the other had to learn how to live after setting it down.
