Rocky Agency Disputes Dream High 3 Withdrawal Explanation

Former ASTRO member Rocky’s planned appearance in Dream High 3: Reboot has become the center of a public dispute after his agency challenged the production company’s explanation for his withdrawal from the musical.

The issue emerged after ARTONE Company, the production company behind the stage project, announced that Rocky would no longer participate. The company said the change was connected to adjustments in the theater schedule and apologized to ticket holders and fans who had been waiting for the production’s opening.

The announcement also confirmed a casting change for the role of Jason. For performances scheduled from August 8 through August 23, the role will be performed by Yu Kwon, giving audiences a replacement plan shortly before the musical begins its revised run.

Agency Pushes Back On Schedule Claim

Rocky’s agency, WONIJIN Entertainment, responded with a sharply different account. The agency said Rocky had continued discussions with the production side and had been preparing to appear in the show, but that his exit was caused by internal circumstances at the production company rather than by any scheduling conflict on his side.

The agency also apologized to fans who were surprised by the sudden announcement. Its statement framed the production company’s explanation as incorrect and asked supporters for understanding as the performer stepped away from a role he had been preparing to take on.

The disagreement matters because casting notices for stage productions often affect travel plans, ticket purchases, fan expectations, and the credibility of future promotional updates. When an artist’s side and a producer’s side offer different explanations, the dispute can quickly move beyond one role and become a question of transparency.

Dream High 3 Faces A Changed Run

Dream High 3: Reboot had originally been scheduled to run from July 18 to September 27 at COEX Artium Woori Bank Hall. Before opening, the timetable changed, and the production is now set to run from August 8 to October 18 at Kwanglim Arts Center BBCH Hall.

Those changes provide important context for the disagreement. A shift in venue and dates can affect contracts, rehearsals, promotional activity, and availability across a cast. However, Rocky’s agency made clear that it did not accept schedule conflict as the reason for his absence, instead pointing to production-side circumstances.

For fans, the most immediate result is practical: Rocky will not appear in the musical, and the Jason role has been reassigned for the earliest announced performances. The change lands close to opening night, which can intensify disappointment among people who bought tickets partly to see a specific cast member.

GOT7’s Youngjae was earlier involved in a separate dispute connected to unpaid appearance fees and the company’s official explanation. That earlier conflict is not the same case, but it adds background to why the new statement from Rocky’s agency is being closely scrutinized.

Neither side’s public statement resolves the full business details behind the withdrawal. What is clear is that the production has moved forward with a substitute actor, while Rocky’s team has placed on record that it disputes the stated reason for his departure.
