Ahn Hyo Seop and Hong Hwa Yeon are heading into the competitive world of Korean cuisine in JTBC’s new weekend drama Final Table. The series has assembled its cast for a script reading ahead of an October premiere, offering an early look at the chefs, restaurant professionals, television producers and corporate figures whose ambitions will intersect around a high-pressure cooking contest.

Final Table follows accomplished Korean chefs who gather from locations around the world to enter a survival competition called The Table: K-Chef 2026. The program is designed to identify the best Korean chef, placing professional reputations and personal goals under scrutiny as contestants prepare dishes before judges and a television audience.

Director Kim Do Hoon joined the reading with Ahn Hyo Seop, Hong Hwa Yeon, Chang Ryul, Jung Yoo Jin, Jang Young Nam, Cha Ji Yeon and other cast members. The gathering introduced an ensemble whose conflicts extend beyond the competition kitchen. Restaurant management, broadcast production and the leadership of a major foodservice company all form part of the drama’s wider setting.

A mysterious chef returns to the spotlight

Ahn Hyo Seop plays Kang Han, an enigmatic chef whose career has largely unfolded in restaurants outside Korea. At the reading, the actor used multiple languages naturally to reflect the character’s international experience. He also conveyed Kang Han’s concentration through a serious expression and sharply focused delivery during scenes in which the chef presents his work to the competition judges.

The character’s background gives him both expertise and an element of uncertainty. Although Kang Han arrives with experience gained abroad, the contest will place that ability in a highly visible Korean setting. His cooking must withstand formal judgment while the story gradually reveals more about the person behind his controlled professional image.

Hong Hwa Yeon stars as Choi Song Yi, the capable hall manager of the restaurant Familia. Song Yi is working to build the restaurant while repeatedly confronting incidents and unexpected problems. Her defining quality is resilience: she does not surrender easily when circumstances threaten the business or the plans she has made for it.

Hong emphasized the character’s strong personality through her dialogue while keeping the performance measured. Song Yi’s role places her on the operational side of the restaurant world, where maintaining service, managing disruptions and protecting a growing business can be as demanding as the cooking itself. That perspective broadens the drama beyond the chefs competing under studio lights.

Rival restaurants and corporate power

Chang Ryul portrays Cha Woo Jin, the executive chef of Exception, described as the leading restaurant in its field. Woo Jin controls the atmosphere of his kitchen with authority, and the actor brought a commanding presence to the reading. His position creates a natural contrast with Kang Han, whose career has developed mainly overseas.

Jung Yoo Jin plays Seon Jung Won, the executive producer responsible for The Table: K-Chef 2026. She approaches leadership with a gentle manner, but her decisions shape the environment in which the chefs compete. Her character connects the contestants’ culinary ambitions to the demands of producing a major survival program.

The corporate side of the story is represented by Jang Young Nam as Moon Hae Sun, chairwoman of Pyeongyeon Group, the country’s top-ranked foodservice company. Her cold presence immediately added tension at the reading, signaling that the industry’s most powerful organization will have its own influence on the characters and their choices.

Cha Ji Yeon plays Baek Hyun Joo, Moon Hae Sun’s half-sibling. Hyun Joo wants to claim the chair position at Pyeongyeon Group, turning family ties into a direct struggle for control. Her ambition introduces a corporate succession conflict that can affect the restaurant and competition storylines from outside the kitchen.

October premiere set for JTBC

The combination of a global chef competition, restaurant-building challenges and a fight over food-industry leadership gives Final Table several connected arenas of conflict.
