Namkoong Min’s “The Husband” Teases Police Standoff And New Mystery Figure
KBS 2TV’s thriller “The Husband” previews a high-pressure fifth episode as Namkoong Min’s character runs from police and confronts a mysterious woman played by Lee Sang Hee.

KBS 2TV’s “The Husband” is leaning further into its fugitive-thriller stakes, with new previews for the July 18 episode placing Namkoong Min’s Kang Tae Joo in two sharply different kinds of danger: a public showdown with police and a private confrontation with a woman whose role remains unclear.
The drama stars Namkoong Min as Kang Tae Joo, a man already standing at the edge of divorce when he is pulled into a desperate struggle involving a dangerous criminal and the urgent need to rescue his wife. The setup has steadily pushed him away from ordinary domestic conflict and into survival mode, and the latest stills suggest the fifth episode will keep tightening that pressure.
One preview centers on Kang Tae Joo after the previous episode’s cliffhanger, where he appeared on kidnapper Noh Man Hee’s monitor and signaled that he was no longer simply reacting to threats. In the new episode stills, Tae Joo is again on the move while police close in, racing through an exposed outdoor area and trying to keep enough distance to avoid capture.
A Chase Turns Into A Standoff
The most striking part of that sequence is not just the pursuit, but the way it appears to corner Tae Joo into a direct confrontation. The released images show him facing a group of police officers, then firing a warning shot into the air. It is a loaded moment for the character because he is not only trying to stay ahead of law enforcement; he is also attempting to preserve his chance to act before the criminal plot around him fully closes.
That framing gives the episode a practical dilemma. If Tae Joo is taken into custody, the rescue effort may stall. If he keeps running, every choice risks making him look more dangerous to the people chasing him. For a thriller built around a civilian forced into extreme circumstances, the scene appears designed to blur the line between suspect, victim, and active rescuer.
The second preview introduces a more contained but equally tense problem. After previously escaping police custody and joining forces with Lee Soo Hyung, played by Park Byung Eun, Tae Joo tracks down Kim Kyung Ae, a mysterious figure portrayed by Lee Sang Hee. The stills show him waiting inside her home and revealing himself when she enters, immediately confronting her at gunpoint.
Lee Sang Hee Enters The Mystery
Kim Kyung Ae’s significance has not been fully explained, and that is the point of the preview. The images present her as visibly alarmed by Tae Joo’s sudden appearance, but not as a simple victim of the moment. Her unreadable presence appears to unsettle Tae Joo as much as his weapon unsettles her, suggesting that their meeting could change what viewers understand about the larger case.
The contrast between the two teased sequences gives the upcoming episode a wider range of suspense. The police chase is physical and immediate, driven by movement, pursuit, and the possibility of capture. The confrontation with Kim Kyung Ae is quieter but potentially more revealing, built around what she knows, why Tae Joo has sought her out, and whether she is connected to Noh Man Hee’s control over the situation.
Namkoong Min’s recent thriller roles have often relied on a controlled intensity, and “The Husband” appears to be using that screen presence to keep Tae Joo’s choices tense rather than heroic in a simple way. The character’s actions may be motivated by rescue, but the previews emphasize how quickly desperation can look like threat when police, criminals, and unknown witnesses are all moving against different versions of the truth.
For viewers following the drama week to week, the fifth episode now has several questions to answer. Can Tae Joo evade arrest long enough to continue his counterattack against Noh Man Hee? What does Kim Kyung Ae know that makes her worth confronting so aggressively? And will Tae Joo’s alliance with Lee Soo Hyung hold as the danger becomes more public?
The next episode of “The Husband” airs on July 18 at 9:20 p.m. KST. Based on the newly released stills, the drama is positioning the hour as a turning point where Tae Joo’s attempt to regain control may deepen both the mystery and the danger surrounding him.
